Accession of Serbia to the European Union

BELGRADE - Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport has complimented Serbia on a well conducted election and added the EU expected the next government to continue the reforms, EU integration and the implementation of the agreement with Pristina.

KOPAONIK - Strengthening the rule of law, institutions, justice system and harmonizing Serbia's foreign policy with that of the EU are just some of the recommendations that ambassadors of the EU member states and the Unites States see as the priorities for Belgrade along its path toward EU membership.

BELGRADE – Serbia’s Minister without Portfolio in charge of European integration Branko Ruzic and Director of the European Commission’s (EC) Directorate General for Enlargement Jean-Eric Paquet said Monday that Serbia has made substantial progress in reforms.

JAGODINA - Serbia needs a government policy which will focus primarily on Serbia and its citizens and not the EU, leader of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Vojislav Kostunica stated.

BELGRADE - After the early parliamentary election on March 16, Serbia must continue reforms and the dialogue with Pristina with renewed vigor and implement the results of the dialogue, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz has said.

ATHENS/BELGRADE - Evangelos Venizelos, Foreign Minister of Greece as the current chair of the EU Council of Ministers, stated that he has come to Belgrade to bring the message of encouragement and support to the country's further EU integration and internal reforms.

BELGRADE - Austria's Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz said that his country will support Serbia in undertaking the necessary reforms, in order to speed up its EU accession.

BELGRADE - Ivan Mrkic, Serbia's outgoing minister of foreign affairs, attended a dinner in Brussels organized by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton for foreign ministers of EU member states and candidate countries, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Tuesday.
