Greece keeps breaking new records in tourist arrivals, yet there are a number of extremely important and persistent problems that it should be dealing with, especially when it comes to key infrastructure issues.

Pelicans released back in the wild

A rosy pelican and two Dalmatian pelicans - both of which are endangered species - were returned to their natural habitat after receiving treatment for injuries and being tagged with a tracking device.

Aegina crash probe 'must deepen,' prosecutor says

A criminal prosecutor probing Wednesday's collision between a water tanker vessel and a fishing boat off the island of Aegina on Thursday told a Piraeus court that further investigation was necessary to determine the causes of the tragedy that left two brothers, aged 62 and 74, dead.

Meanwhile the captain and a crew member of the water tanker were released without charge.

Two dead after boat collision off Aegina island

A collision between a fishing boat and a water tanker vessel off the Saronic Gulf island of Aegina near the Greek capital on Wednesday left two people dead, reports said.

The bodies of the two victims, which early reports say they were brothers, were reportedly recovered by the crew of the tanker, while the fishing vessel, "Panayiotis," sank after the collision.
