Pipeline to carry water to Aegina gets go-ahead

The Attica Regional Authority gave the green light on Friday, following a meeting of its council, for a 32.5-million-euro project to build a water pipeline from the mainland to the island of Aegina.

The pipeline, to be laid at a depth of 95 meters, will be 14 kilometers long and will supply up to 30,000 cubic meters of water per day to the island?s residents.

Ferries tied up at Piraeus, Lavrio and Rafina due to strong winds

Gale-force winds and choppy seas prompted port authorities on Tuesday to issue a sailing ban at the three ports serving Athens, in Piraeus, Lavrio and Rafina.

Ferries will not be sailing to the islands of the Aegean on Tuesday and passengers must check with their ferry operators about ticket returns.
