The Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy approved the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessments for hydrocarbons research in two areas in Western Greece. This way the Parliament can now approve the activation of the contracts for Aitoloakarnania and Northwestern Peloponnese.

Police have arrested at least seven members of a criminal gang - seven foreign nationals and one Greek - involved in drug dealing and car theft in a joint operation conducted in Ioannina and Aitoloakarnania in western Greece, and Attica late Thursday and early Friday.

Police found on Monday noon the car of the two missing young men during the investigations carried out at Messolonghi, Etoloakarnania and the wider area.

The car was found in an irrigation canal at Acheloos river, next to the road and just a few meters away the village of Katoxi on the way to Lesini village where security cameras had recorded them.

Authorities are investigating the death of a man who fell from the Rio-Antirio suspension bridge in western Greece on Thursday.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was seen falling from the bridge on CCTV footage around 10 a.m. It was not clear whether the fall was a suicide attempt or an accident.
