Hundreds of thousands mark Nevruz in Turkey's southeast

Hundreds of thousands of people have marked Nevruz in the Bağlar district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır along with other cities around Turkey and the region.

Long lines of cars were formed on the roads leading to the Nevruz area, prompting people to leave their cars and walk to the area. 

Governorate allows for Newroz celebration in Turkey's Diyarbakır

Governorate allowed for Newroz celebration in ssouthern east province of Diyarbakır on March 18, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The Newroz celebration will be organized on March 21 between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. by People's Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP).

Ousted Mardin co-mayor Türk visits former main opposition leader Baykal

Ahmet Türk, the ousted co-mayor of the southeastern province of Mardin, has paid a visit to former leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), Deniz Baykal, in Ankara. 

Türk visited Baykal, who is currently a CHP lawmaker from the southern province of Antalya, to express appreciation for the latter's visit to his family during his arrest.

The health report of Ahmet Türk, the ousted and jailed mayor of the southeastern province of Mardin, is missing, his lawyer Zeynep Boztoprak has said. 

Boztoprak said health checks were completed two weeks ago but that the report that could result in Türk's release was missing. 

PKK will 'face destruction' after April 2017: Interior Minister Soylu

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) will "face destruction" after April 2017, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has predicted .

"Let me be clear, these days are their [PKK] good days. They will face such massive destruction that they can't even imagine," Soylu said in a ruling Justice and Development (AKP) meeting in the eastern province of Van on Dec. 9.
