Airbnbs mushroom in Sitia, Crete
The Municipality of Sitia, in the easternmost part of Crete, has seen its Airbnb listings grow recently, with a survey by Tourix showing that by end-March the area east of Agios Nikolaos and Ierapetra hosted 783 listed accommodation facilities, up 7.11% from March 2022, able to host up to 3,297 guests simultaneously.

The cost of a one-night accommodation in luxury Istanbul houses starts from an average of 5,000 Turkish Liras (approx. $250) and can even go up to 20,000 liras.

Airbnb says it will use new methods to spot and block people who try to use the short-term rental service to throw a party.
The company said on Aug. 16 it has introduced technology that examines the would-be renter's history on Airbnb, how far they live from the home they want to rent, whether they're renting for a weekday or weekend, and other factors.

Owners in Bulgaria have Earned BGN 14 Million in Income from Properties Rented through Airbnb
More than BGN 14 million in rental income has been received by Bulgarians, real estate owners, who provide short-term accommodation for tourists through Airbnb, the National Revenue Agency (NRA) announced. The data refer to the second half of 2021 and have been submitted to the revenue agency by Airbnb, and the NRA expects information from Booking.com as well.
Airbnb ends rentals in China
Airbnb Inc. announced Tuesday it will stop representing short-term rental properties in China and focus its business in the country on serving Chinese tourists looking for lodgings abroad.
Airbnb joins a series of foreign internet companies including Yahoo Inc. and eBay Inc. that pulled out of China after running into fierce local competition and regulatory barriers.
