Moldova's government will have seven new members, and only four ministers will keep their seats in a surprise reshuffle announced on Tuesday by the leader of the ruling of the Democratic Party of Moldova, PDM, Vlad Plahotniuc.

He explained that the PDM wants a more "technocratic" and professional government as well as more feminine representation, with four women in the new cabinet.

Moldova's ruling Democratic Party, PDM, on Tuesday will decide whether to form a new alliance in parliament to regain its majority after the existing coalition with the Liberal Party broke up on Monday. 

Bulgaria hopes that the political forces in Moldova will act responsibly to resolve the political crisis and restore calm in the country, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday .

Protesters against the newly approved Moldovan government broke into the building of the country's parliament on Wednesday.

A total of 65 out of 101 MPs voted in favour of the censure motion on Thursday, TASS news agency informs.

Moldova's parliament on Thursday voted down the government proposed by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, more than two months after general elections gave a narrow victory to pro-European Union parties.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, on Monday stated, while referring to the political situation in the Republic of Moldova, that it is important that the authorities in Chisinau form the government as soon as possible.

Romanian analysts have expressed concerns that Moldova's chances for future integration into the European Union are diminishing after the formation of a weak minority government in the neighbouring former Soviet republic.

Pro-EU parties win most votes in Moldova

Three main pro-European Moldovan parties are likely to form a new ruling coalition since together they won the most votes in Sunday's election.

Despite the fact that the pro-Russian Socialist Party is the election winner with the highest number of votes, the pro-European parties are likely to be in power.

Moldova is holding parliamentary elections on Sunday expected to decide whether the ex-Soviet country would maintain its recent course towards EU membership or turn back and move closer to Russia.
