Anti-Korean sentiment in Japan

Japanese went to the polls on July 10 in the shadow of the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, gunned down while making a campaign speech for the governing party that cruises to a likely major victory.

A hearse carrying the body of assassinated former prime minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Tokyo on July 9 from the western Japanese city where he was shot at close range on the campaign trail.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was on Friday confirmed dead after he was shot at during a campaign speech in Nara City, western Japan, local media reported citing officials.

The condolence telegram, among other things, says: "It was with sadness and disbelief that I received the news of the tragic death of Shinzo Abe, an exceptional statesman and man, who, with his serious and responsible approach to the political challenges of his time, left a special legacy on the global political scene."

The news was reported by numerous world media and agencies, including Japanese state media.
Abe was shot in the chest and back, and his assailant was arrested after the shooting. Abe was seriously wounded and did not show any signs of life on the spot. Doctors at the hospital where he was taken said Abe arrived with low consciousness and signs of life.

Abe (67) was taken to the hospital unconscious and in cardiac arrest, according to the media. The attacker was arrested.
Videos and photos of the moment of the wounding and of the weapon from which Abe was shot appeared on social networks. The suspect for the attempted assassination of Shinzo Abe is, according to the media, a former member of the Japanese navy.

Abe (67) was left unconscious after he was shot by an unidentified assailant, who was taken into custody by police at the scene, Kyodo reported.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said he did not know Abe's condition after the attack, and Kyodo news agency and NHK reported that Abe, 67, was unconscious and in cardiac arrest when he was taken to hospital.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, an arch-conservative and one of his nation's most divisive figures, was shot dead during a campaign speech on July 8 in western Japan. He was airlifted to a hospital but officials said he was not breathing and his heart had stopped. Later, Japan's NHK television said Abe has died in the hospital. 

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who collapsed after apparently being shot in the chest while delivering a speech in Nara City on Friday has been rushed to hospital where he is reported to be in "cardiopulmonary arrest."

World leaders have been pushing for tougher sanctions on North Korea after its latest and the most powerful nuclear test on Sept. 3, while Pyongyang pledged to take "powerful counter measures" to respond to U.S. pressure or any new sanctions against it over its missile programme.
