Armenia–Azerbaijan relations

The foreign ministers of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan held a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) ministerial meeting on Oct. 14 in Belarus' capital Minsk.

Turkic Council members are meeting in Istanbul on Sept. 27 to discuss current developments in Afghanistan, where the Taliban have taken power.

The joint military drill of Turkish and Azerbaijani armies in Azerbaijan's Lachin region that was liberated from Armenian occupation last year, ended on Sept. 11, according to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

The end of the conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region paves the way for improvement in Turkish-Armenian relations, Russia's foreign minister said on Sept. 3.

Akar met with Zakir Hasanov in Istanbul, on the sidelines of the 15th International Defense Industry Fair, one of the world's largest global defense events.

Turkish and Azerbaijani armies started on June 28 joint military exercises in Baku, the latter's Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Mustafa Kemal Atatürk 2021 "joint live-fire tactical exercises" are being held in line with an agreement on bilateral military cooperation, the ministry said.

"Armenia should understand that Azerbaijan will continue to strengthen, there is no doubt about that. In addition, our military power will increase. After the war, appropriate instructions were given, new agreements were signed, and the process of purchasing new weapons and equipment based on modern structural reforms of our armed forces have been approved.

The presidents of Russia and Turkey spoke over the phone on June 24 and discussed bilateral ties, tourism, the Sputnik V vaccine, Nagorno-Karabakh region and Syria, official statements said.

All the regional countries, including Armenia, and the entire world will benefit from the peace and tranquility in the Caucasus, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said in an address to the national parliament of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani president said on May 30 that a part of the Zangezur corridor that will connect his country with Turkey should pass through Armenia.

Speaking to Turkey's Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu in Baku, Ilham Aliyev said the opening of the corridor will further strengthen relations between Turkic nations.
