Rising sea levels may submerge parts of Istanbul by 2060: US climatologists
The coastal map of Istanbul will change and most of the places along the Bosphorus Strait will be underwater in around four decades, according to a report by a U.S.-based climate organization.
"Seawater will move in around 2 kilometers to the districts located by the Bosphorus," Climate Central said.
Istanbul hit by heavy storm
Turkey's largest city was hit with a heavy storm early on Feb. 9, with trees and roofs toppled.
The storm began with light rain on Istanbul's European districts including Sultangazi, Gaziosmanpaşa, Bakırköy, Bağcılar, Beyoğlu, Kağıthane, Bayrampaşa and Esenler.

A fierce storm hit Turkey's largest metropolis Istanbul early on Feb. 9, damaging dozens of buildings with roofs blown away and trees lying toppled on the streets.
Following light rain, fierce storms hit Istanbul's districts on the European side, including Sultangazi, Bakırköy, Bağcılar, Beyoğlu, Kağıthane, Bayrampaşa and Esenler districts.

Three killed, 10 wounded as tent roof collapses in mosque in Istanbul
Three people were killed and more than 10 were wounded on Jan. 10 after the roof of a tent collapsed on to a mass attending a funeral ceremony at a mosque in Istanbul's Bakırköy district.
A group of people were in a funeral prayer in the quad of the 5 Kısım Mosque in the Ataköy neighborhood when the tent's roof collapsed after being pressured by thick snow and striking storm.
Boat flag issue about to be solved
An important meeting was held at Istanbul's Ataköy Marina on Aug. 25. It was a benchmark in the history of Turkish amateur seamanship. Among the participants were Faruk Okuyucu from the Chamber of Shipping, Cemalettin Selvi and Oktay Kılıç from the ministry and doyens of amateur shipping Tanıl Tuncel and Teoman Arsay.

Turkey's top court annuls land sales on Istanbul's coast as construction nears end
The Council of State has reversed a previous ruling permitting the Housing Development Organization (TOK?) to sell land along the coastal shore of Istanbul's Bak?rköy district even as the construction of five 16-story buildings nears completion.
Istanbul to open tender for two new metro lines
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has announced plans for a tender for two new metro lines in September.
"A tender will be held for the subway lines between Ataköy-?kitelli on the European side and Dudullu-Bostanc? on the Asian side in September," Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topba? said in a statement released Aug. 12.

Manmade peninsula under way in Istanbul
A 140,000-meter square manmade peninsula as large as ten football stadiums has plans to be constructed as a shoreline extension of Istanbul's Ataköy neighborhood, which has ran out of space for new buildings.

Turkey's Environment Minister says clause legalizing controversial buildings removed from bill
Turkish Environment Minister ?dris Güllüce said the clause that would legalize already-constructed buildings, including a group of skyscrapers that have ruined the iconic panorama of Istanbul?s historic center and the controversial presidential palace in Ankara, by awarding them ?vested rights? status was removed from the omnibus bill.
