Hottest Day of the Year in Bulgaria: Code Red in 7 Provinces for Dangerously High Temperatures
Today will be mostly sunny. After noon and overnight Thursday, with the passage of a well-defined cold front, temperatures will drop quickly. In many places there will be short-term rains and thunderstorms, in some areas they will be intense and significant in quantity, there will also be hail, announced the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).
No end to destructive thunderstorms
Slovenia has seen yet another wave of destructive thunderstorms as severe winds, large hail and torrential rains have been pummelling the country almost non-stop for the past two weeks. Damage is still being assessed but reports say it will exceed the €420 million caused in the devastating ice storm in 2014.

RHMZ issued two warnings: First, hell on earth, up to 40 degrees, followed by...
The first is a warning for the area of Serbia for high temperatures (for July 25).
"Tomorrow will also be very warm, especially in central and southern Serbia, where it will be even warmer than today - from 37 to 40 degrees," it said.

Although Vojvodina was the most affected in the previous days, yesterday the storm hit other parts of Serbia as well.
In Belgrade, the storm, accompanied by heavy rain and thunder, affected some parts of the city, but it was less intense than the previous nights. Parts of the city remained without electricity for a short time.

This was published today on the website of the Republic Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ).
In the rest of the country, an orange weather alert is in effect, which indicates dangerous weather.
The area from the Alps, through the Western Balkans and Serbia to the Carpathian region, still expects strong thunderstorm activity today, the RHMZ announced earlier.
A storm reached Belgrade: People's safety threatened?
The Republic Hydrometeorological Institute of Serbia (RHMZ) has issued a new emergency warning.
"In the next two hours, strong showers with thunder, strong and stormy winds are expected locally in the area of Belgrade and the wider area, as a result of which material damage is possible, and the safety of people and animals may be threatened," the warning states.

A yellow and orange code for short-term and temporarily intense rainfall was issued for 15 provinces in Eastern and Central Bulgaria on Friday (July 7). Orange is the code for three provinces - Veliko Tarnovo, Targovishte, Shumen, and yellow for the rest. There are also conditions for hail. This is according to the forecast of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
