Weather In Bulgaria On April 30: Cloudy with Rain and Thunderstorms Expected

Over the next 24 hours, much of the country will experience significant cloudiness, accompanied by widespread rain in Central and Eastern Bulgaria. Eastern regions may see particularly heavy rainfall. While precipitation from the north will taper off during the day, rain will persist in southern Bulgaria, with thunderstorms forecasted for southwestern regions.

Overnight, expect considerable cloud cover, particularly in western regions, accompanied by showers. In Northwestern Bulgaria, expect a west-northwest wind bringing colder air. Across the rest of the country, the wind will be moderate from the south-southwest. Minimum temperatures will range from 13°C to 18°C, slightly lower in northwestern areas, with Sofia at around 13°C.

Weekend storms coming

The weather will steadily deteriorate from late Saturday afternoon until Sunday evening, according to an emergency advisory issued by the National Meteorological Service (EMY).

Heavy showers and thunderstorms, as well as strong gusts, will be the primary elements of the weather shift.

The unprecedented summer weather conditions that prevailed until Wednesday throughout Greece gave way to heavy rain, which flooded streets of the western port city of Patra, on Thursday. Serious problems were also caused both on the old national road and the new Patra-Corinth highway, where landslides occurred.

Today, over the northwestern regions, the cloudiness will temporarily break and decrease, and over the rest it will be more often significant. In many places in Southern and Eastern Bulgaria, there will be short-term rainfall and thunderstorms. In some places, mainly in the Rhodopes and the southeastern regions, the phenomena will be intense and there will be conditions for hail.
