August will bid us farewell with instability according to the weather forecasts. As both Thodoros Kolydas and Klearchos Marousakis say in their posts, cold air masses coming from Ukraine, where they will be over our region via the Black Sea, will bring rain and thunderstorms until the end of the week.

The last week of August kicks off with sunny weather, but clouds will gradually increase throughout the day. Southeastern areas can expect thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with a light to moderate northeasterly wind blowing across the region. Maximum temperatures will range between 31° and 36°, with Sofia seeing around 30°.

Overnight, the skies will remain mostly clear with calm conditions, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).

Friday will see mostly sunny weather, though it will be accompanied by some wind. In the afternoon, cloud cover will increase temporarily, particularly in mountainous and eastern regions, where isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected.

On Thursday, sunny skies are expected, with cumulus clouds forming in the afternoon. These clouds will be more prominent over the mountainous regions of Western and Central Bulgaria, where short-term rainfall and thunderstorms are anticipated.

Cumulus clouds are expected to form over the western half of Bulgaria, bringing precipitation and thunderstorms to some areas, with conditions favorable for hail. In contrast, Eastern Bulgaria will enjoy mostly sunny weather.

The bad weather “hit” many areas of Greece today, Tuesday, August 20, at noon.

In many places, residents were faced with hail, thunderstorms, and flooding, while lightning also appeared in several areas.

Blagoevgrad is under an orange code, while a yellow code has been issued for Vidin, Vratsa, Montana, Gabrovo, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Stara Zagora, Silistra, Lovech, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Haskovo, and Kardjali.
