Turkey's Doğan Group is holding a panel in Washington in a bid to globally fight against the fallacies and prejudices directed toward Islam.

The panel titled "Islamophobia: Overcoming Myths and Engaging in a Better Conversation" in cooperation with the U.S.-based Atlantic Council think tank and the Smithsonian Institution began at 11:00 a.m.

Having achieved important progress in girls' access to primary education through a series of successful campaigns, Turkey now needs to revive the same mobilization spirit to keep girls in higher education, according to Candan Fetvacı. Doğan Holding Chairwoman Begümhan Doğan Faralyalı has called for unity behind Turkey's common values, emphasizing the significance of widening an environment of "trust and good intentions" based on "commonalities and shared values."

A senior executive of the Doğan Group, the leading independent media group in Turkey, offered his resignation today amid allegations in social media that he repeatedly maintained correspondence with Berat Albayrak, the Minister of Energy and the son-in-law of President Tayyip Erdoğan, and the CEO of the rival Sabah newspaper, Serhat Albayrak, who is also the brother of the Energy Minister.

Doğan Media Group coordinator Mehmet Ali Yalçındağ announced his resignation from the post with a written statement issued on Sept. 30.
Here is Yalçındağ's statement:

"I have held different posts in institutions that are part of the Doğan Group since 1989, assuming high-level responsibility. I have been in charge of the coordination of Doğan media institutions since 2016.

The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), which has created more than 3,600 commitments to improve lives, held its 12th and final annual meeting in New York last week, with the attendance of more than 100 high level high level guests, including Hürriyet chair Vuslat Doğan Sabancı and Doğan Holding chair Begümhan Doğan Faralyalı from Turkey. 

Freedom of the press must be protected in Turkey without any exceptions, Vuslat Do?an Sabanc?, the chairwoman of daily Hürriyet, told a meeting held to mark the 67th anniversary of the newspaper on Sept. 1.
