The sale of artificially flavored pomegranate sauces that give the impression of pure pomegranate syrup will be banned in Türkiye as of June 30, 2024.
On March 24, the regulation amending the Turkish Food Codex prepared by the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry was published in the Official Gazette.

Erzurum's baklava gets geographical mark
Baklava with molasses, a product of Turkey's eastern Erzurum province, has earned a coveted geographical indication from the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, authorities announced on March 5.
With the indication, Baklava will join a number of items that already won the designation such as cağ kebab, kadayıf dolma, civil cheese, and su böreği (pasty).

A 29-year-old Nepalese graduate student, who is studying in Istanbul, has become a master of many Anatolian dishes, ranging from baklava to white beans and stuffed grape leaves to anchovies.
Muhammed Cavit Ensari, an electronic and electrical engineer, came to Turkey four years ago to pursue a master's degree at Istanbul Technical University.
Prison drug smuggling ploy skewered
A woman was being questioned on Saturday after allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into Attica's high-security Korydallos Prison.
The drugs were hidden in a package for her son, an inmate at the facility, which contained kebabs and frozen meat.
The package was intercepted on Friday afternoon during a visit to the penitentiary by the woman.
