Sofia Prosecutor's Office To Demand Suspension of Plovdiv's Mayor

Sofia's Prosecutor's Office will demand the suspension of Plovdiv Mayor Ivan Totev because he might influence the investigation.

90% of the witnesses in the investigation are hierarchically dependent on Totev, explained the spokesperson of the Prosecutor General Rumyana Arnaudova.

The request will be reviewed by the Plovdiv District Court. Totev was imposed bail of BGN 20,000.

Bulgarian Court Releases on Bail 6 Officers Arrested for Corruption at Kapitan Andreevo

The Haskovo District Court has released five of the border policemen and customs officers who were detained during the operation at the Kapitan Andreevo border cross check point in September on bail of BGN 5,000, reported BNR.

The same bail was set for another one of the accused who has been placed under house arrest.

25 of the customs officers who were arrested during a special operation at the border cross checkpoint Lesovo have been set free, reported Nova TV.

A total of 31 persons were detained during the operation.

It is expected that the Prosecutor's Office will decide later on Friday which of the 6 arrested customs officers will be held in custody.
