Turkish court rules for crime scene investigation in Gezi Park protests victim Berkin Elvan’s case

An Istanbul court has ordered authorities to conduct an analysis at the scene where Berkin Elvan, a boy who died nine months after being hit by a police teargas canister during the 2013 Gezi Park protests, was shot.

Court rejects arrest demand for suspect police officer accused of killing Gezi victim Berkin Elvan

A court has rejected the arrest demand for a police officer who is suspected of killing Berkin Elvan, a 14-year-old who died after being shot by a tear gas canister by police during the Gezi Park Protests in June 2013. 

The police officer, identified only by the initials F.D., denied the accusations, saying that he did not kill anyone. 

Indictment accepted almost four years after death of young Gezi victim Elvan

The Istanbul 17th Court of Serious Crimes has accepted an indictment regarding the death of 14-year-old Berkin Elvan, who was killed with a tear gas canister during the Gezi protests in June 2013.

The indictment was completed on Dec. 7 after nearly three years of investigation, with the prosecutor saying the police officer had displayed "probable intent" in killing the boy.
