Two people have been arrested on charges of making propaganda for an illegal far-left group after unfurling a banner demanding the trial of those responsible for killing the 15-year-old Gezi protests victim, Berkin Elvan, during a provincial congress of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Istanbul.

A group of protesters have attempted to march Turkey's new presidential palace to mark the shooting of 15-year-old Gezi protests victim Berkin Elvan, but the police prevented the demonstration by using tear gas.

In the last 11 years, 241 children have been killed in Turkey, lawmakers from main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) have said, citing documentation by the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (T?HV).

Amnesty International has launched a petition campaign via change.org to stop South Korea exporting some 1.9 million tear gas canisters to Turkey.

The "Do Not Send Gas to Us" campaign states that the canisters are currently set to be handed to Turkey in mid-January.
