Bulgaria is celebrating on Tuesday its Unification Day, with festive events expected throughout the country but mostly in Plovdiv, the second-biggest city.

Miroslav Borshoch, the former manager of the National Palace of Culture (NDK), has decided not to appear before the parliamentary committee looking into money spending at NDK, he announced on Facebook.

Yesterday, the Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev was interrogated by the Prosecutor's Оffice about the National Palace of Culture (NDK), the spokesman of the Prosecutor's office General Rumyana Arnaudova said.

Donchev was the head of the National Palace of Culture in the previous government of GERB.

''The government will disburse BGN 28 million to increase the capital of the National Palace of Culture (NDK)'', the Minister in charge of Bulgaria's EU Council presidency in 2018, Liliyana Pavlova, told journalists.

NDK will host events during the presidency.

The National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia has been acknowledged by the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC), reported BNR.

An extraordinary session of the municipal council of Koprivshtitsa has rescinded the decision to abolish the town' status of architectural and historical reserve, according to BNR.

 10 out of 11 councilors voted to rescind the decision, while council chairman Rashko Hristov abstained.

News that local councillors in Koprivshtitsa - a picturesque historic town in central Bulgaria - have dismissed its new management plan, which guaranteed its protected status, drew concerned reactions from Bulgarian leaders including the President.

The Ministry of Culture has announced its position on the Koprivshtitsa issue. The reason is the decision of the Municipal Council to abolish the status of the town as a protected architectural site.
