Bulgaria's Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Bulgaria's Kozloduy nuclear power plant was launched 40 years ago today.

A large number of industry workers are to attend the celebrations at the Kozloduy NPP on Thursday, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio.

Eight years prior to the launch, Bulgaria signed an agreement with the former Soviet Union on the N-plant in the northwestern town of Kozloduy.

Bulgarian Energy Holding, CEZ, to Discuss Varna TPP Life Extension

The Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) and power distributor CEZ have signed a memorandum of cooperation on searching technical and economic solutions to extend the life of the Varna Thermal Power Plant.

A working group has been formed for the purpose and it is to function by October 31.

Bulgaria's caretaker government has initiated a reshuffle at key energy companies.

Georgi Hristozov has been removed from the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) and is to be replaced by Anton Pavlov, caretaker Deputy Minister of Energy.

Hristozov remains on the Board of the Directors of Bulgaria's largest coal mining company, Maritsa Iztok Mines.

KozloduyNPP Unit7 Agreement Sets No Financial Commitments for Bulgaria

The shareholder agreement with Westinghouse on Kozloduy NPP unit7 does not tie Bulgaria to any requirements for investments, state guarantees or mandatory purchase contracts.

The company issued a statement to shed light on the agreement, which was published on the website of the Kozloduy N-plant on Friday.

Nearly All Bulgargaz's Money Held in KTB

Bulgaria's state-owned gas supplier Bulgargaz has some 98.5% of its assets stored in Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB), data from the Economy Ministry shows.

A report cited by daily 24 chasa contains a list of companies holding over BGN 3 M in a single bank.

Only entities for which the sum accounts for more than a quarter of their assets are included.

Bulgarian Energy Holding CEO Ivan Yonchev Leaves Office

Ivan Yonchev, CEO of the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH), has been discharged to undergo an operation, BEH has announced on his website.

Yonchev leaves the office on his own request, citing ill health and a medical intervention after which it will take long for him to recover, according to the message.
