Opening of POTAP to the USA through hosting of American journalist
In order to promote and introduce the comparative advantages of Pieria to the American public, the Pieria Organization of Tourism Development and Promotion (P.O.T.A.P.) hosted and informed American journalist Ms. Chanin Victor, editor of “TravelAge West.” This was done in collaboration with the Region of Central Macedonia and the Tourism Organizations of Thessaloniki and Halkidiki. PM seeking to plug leaks in Greek north
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will set up camp in northern Greece on Thursday to begin a series of tours over two days aiming to limit leakage to parties to the right of ruling New Democracy and which in the June 2023 elections received a total of around 20% of the vote between them.

Tourism contributed 24 bln euros to Greek GDP last year
The direct contribution of tourism to Greece's GDP is estimated to be close to 24 billion euros, or 11.5% in 2022, with five regions representing almost 90% of the country's receipts, three of which are purely tourist regions.

Soccer fans vandalize buses in Thessaloniki
Suspected supporters of PAOK soccer club vandalized four public buses on Sunday evening in Thessaloniki, northern Greece.
The incident occurred on Line 14, which was transporting fans to the Toumba Stadium for the match against AEK Athens.
Police are currently investigating to identify the perpetrators responsible for the damage.

Tzitzikostas elected President of the European Committee of the Regions
Governor of Central Macedonia region Aspostolos Tzitzikostas has been elected President of the European Committee of the Regions.
Tzitzikostas, who is the first Greek to assume the post, replaces Belgium's Karl-Heinz Lambertz. His candidacy had been backed by all political groups in the committee.
Vasco Cordeiro, regional governor of the Azores, was elected vice president.
Robbery suspect's DNA linked to N17 convict's hideout
The DNA of a man who was arrested in the northern Greek city of Katerini for robberies is identical to the one found in the former hideout of Christodoulos Xiros, a convicted member of November 17 terror group, a senior police official said Thursday.
Protesting farmers in northern Greece warn of further action
Farmers in northern Greece said on Tuesday they will escalate their protests and invited the ministers of agricultural development and growth and labor to a meeting to discuss their concerns.
