OASTH starts out on bumpy road
There was a changing of the guard at the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTH) on Thursday but it appears that the denunciation of the government's decision to remove the existing board and bring the firm under public control isn't going to stop anytime soon.

Greek Culture Minister: “Amphipolis and Greek monuments are a priority”
“Amphipolis and all the important Greek monuments is our priority”, said Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou on Wednesday in a meeting with Central Macedonia regional governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
Thessaloniki metro edges forward
The Iraklis (Hercules) tunnel boring machine, digging below the surface of Thessaloniki for the construction of the northern port city's metro system, Thursday reached Analipsi station, completing one of the twin tunnels on the central line. The line between Neos Sidirodromikos Stathmos and Nea Elvetia is expected to start operating by late 2020.

Some progress for Thessaloniki metro

Roadblocks set up along national highways
Farmers protesting a range of issues, including social security reforms, continued roadside protests on Saturday.

Two monks from embattled monastery to be imprisoned

CERN pact aimed at halting brain drain in central Macedonia
In a bid to promote innovation and new technologies, regional authorities in central Macedonia signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday with CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, one of the world's largest and most respected centers for scientific research.

Per capita gross domestic product declined by 0.8 percent to 16,336 euros across Greece in 2014 compared with the previous year, figures published by statistical authority ELSTAT on Tuesday show.
Unpaid Thessaloniki bus drivers warn of more strikes
After numerous transport disruptions in Thessaloniki, the union of bus drivers in the northern port city, OASTH, have warned they will take further industrial action if they do not receive October and November wages they are owed.
"If they don't pay us tomorrow, we won't have any money to buy our children milk," the union's president, Dimitris Tsermenidis, said on Monday.
