Almost half of French oppose publication of cartoons depicting Islam's Prophet Mohammed, according to a poll Jan. 18, as global debate deepened on the limits of free speech in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo killings.
Charlie Hebdo killer Cherif Kouachi buried near Paris
Cherif Kouachi, one of the two brothers who killed 12 people in an attack on France's Charlie Hebdo magazine, has been buried in an unmarked grave near Paris under tight security, the local mayor's office told AFP.
Kouachi was buried late on Saturday at a cemetery in Gennevilliers, where he used to live, officials said.

The West is applauding that Muslim
He is a Muslim of Moroccan origin. He was 15 years old when his family migrated to Holland. He has a bachelor?s degree in engineering but he was first a journalist before going into politics. He has double-citizenship; Moroccan and Dutch. Ahmed Aboutaleb is 53 years old; he has been the mayor of Rotterdam for six years.

The strategy of the Paris attacks
After Ahmed Merabet, a French policeman, was killed outside the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris last week, his brother Malek said: "My brother was Muslim and he was killed by two terrorists, by two false Muslims. Islam is a religion of peace and love."

Turkish President Erdo?an lashes out at 'provocative' Charlie Hebdo
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an lashed out at Charlie Hebdo for its "provocative" publications about Islam on Jan. 16, saying the French satirical weekly "incited hatred and racism."
"This magazine [is] notorious for its provocative publications about Muslims, about Christians, about everyone," Erdo?an told a meeting of businessmen in Ankara.
Russia says Muhammad cartoon publication illegal
Russia's media watchdog on Jan. 16 warned publications that printing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad was against the country's law and ethical norms following the Charlie Hebdo attack in France.
"The publication in Russian media of such caricatures go against ethical and moral norms worked out over centuries," said the media and communications watchdog Roskomnadzor.

Clashes at Charlie Hebdo protest in Karachi, three injured
At least three people were injured Jan. 16 in clashes between anti-Charlie Hebdo protesters and police outside the French consulate in Pakistan's Karachi, officials said, including an AFP photographer who was shot in the back.
