Chechen warlord Umarov’s brother in Turkey accused of being behind Grozny attack

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has said Akhmat Umarov, who is allegedly hiding in Turkey and is a brother of the late warlord Doku Umarov, was behind the fatal attack on a police checkpoint in Grozny on Dec. 4, ITAR-TASS News Agency has reported.

Grozny Clashes 'Leave Up to 10 Dead'

Up to ten police officers could have been killed in a shootout following a special operation against militants in the Chechen capital Grozny, media reports suggest.

The toll varies between four and ten police officers. Interfax agency says the clashes claimed ten lives, while ITAR-TASS cited health ministry officials who put the number of four.

European Parliament Mulls Putting Right Sector on Terrorism List

Latvian MEP Tatjana Zdanoka urged her colleagues to support her motion to put the Ukrainian radical group Right Sector on the terrorist organizations list, reports ITAR-TASS. 

If the proposal is approved, the assets of Right Sector and its leaders will be frozen and its members will not be let into EU countries.
