Turkey authorities impose lockdown at İncirlik air base: US consulate
Turkish authorities imposed July 16 a security lockdown at the İncirlik air base in the southern province of Adana used by U.S. and other coalition forces in the fight against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Syria, the U.S. consulate said.
Ancient Akkale to be restored
Officials have pushed the button on a project for the restoration and environmental arrangement of the ancient city of Akkale, an olive oil production and exportation center in the late Roman era in the southern province of Mersin's Erdemli district.

Ertu?rul frigate artifacts at permanent exhibition
Artifacts removed from the Ertu?rul frigate as part of the Ertu?rul Project underwater excavations are on display at a permanent exhibition at the Mersin Naval Museum in the southern province of Mersin.
Tufan Turanl?, the head of the Ertu?rul frigate underwater excavation, said in the opening that it was the 12th exhibition of the Ertu?rul frigate.

Adana Theater Festival kicks off
The 18th State Theaters Sabanc? International Adana Theater Festival kicked off on March 27, World Theater Day. The Sak?p Sabanc? Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to theater and cinema actor Erdal Özya?c?lar. He received his award from the Sabanc? Foundation Board of Trustees President Güler Sabanc? at the opening ceremony.

James Bond bridge on stamp
Turkey's nation post office, PTT, has issued a stamp featuring the Varda Bridge in the southern province of Adana, where some scenes from the James Bond movie "Skyfall" were filmed in 2012.
Stating that the Varda Bridge had historical importance for Turkey and Adana, PTT Adana Director Mehmet Kani Gümü?o?lu said 50,000 stamps had been printed.

Ancient road uncovered in Turkey's Tarsus
Works at an archaeological site in the southern province of Mersin's historical Tarsus district have unearthed an ancient road.
In a written statement, Tarsus Museum Director Mehmet Çavu? said drainage work in the field had revealed an ancient road built using the polygonal technique.

3-month-old baby, grandfather shot dead in Turkey's Cizre
A 3-month-old baby has been killed alongside her grandfather in the southeastern province of ??rnak after being struck by a bullet at home, after which her grandfather was also shot dead trying to rush the baby to an ambulance.
