PKK cannot achieve objectives through such crimes: CHP
The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has condemned the Dec. 10 Istanbul bombings, saying the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) cannot "achieve its objectives through such crimes."
The CHP convened its Central Executive Board on Dec. 12 following the deadly attack that struck Istanbul's Beşiktaş district over the weekend.
Lawyers refuse to defend ISIL suspects in Ankara bombing trial
The appointed lawyers for 36 suspects linked to last year's deadly Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) bomb attack in the Turkish capital Ankara have demanded to withdraw from the case, telling the court board that they do not want to plead in the case, which opened on Nov. 7.

Minister slams EU commissioner's 'HDP role key' tweet
Turkish EU Affairs Minister Ömer Çelik has slammed EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn for his remarks about the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) role in the solution of the Kurdish issue in Turkey. In a series of posts made on his official Twitter account late on Sept. 27, Çelik criticized Hahn's characterization of the HDP's role as "key."
HDP deputy chair arrested on terror charges
The deputy chair of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) was arrested on terror charges in the northern province of Tokat early on Sept. 16. HDP deputy chair Alp Altınörs was sent to Tokat Courthouse and arrested over allegations of being a member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Explosion Near AKP Headquarters in SE Turkey
An explosion has occurred in an area near a headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Van, Southeastern Turkery, Hürriyet Daily News reported.
As many as 11 have been injured, according to an AKP official.
The office of Van's governor is also not far from the site of the blast.
No-one has claimed responsibility.

Coup attempters detained after taking Doğan journalists hostage
A group of soldiers entered the Doğan Media Center, which hosts Hürriyet newspaper, Hürriyet Daily News, broadcaster CNNTürk and other Doğan media companies, in Istanbul early on July 16, taking several journalists and other staff in the building hostage for some time.
The 13 private soldiers and corporals headed by a middle-ranking soldiers, entered the headquarters on a helicopter.
HDP says lifting lawmakers' immunities will bring more violence
A bill proposed by Turkey's ruling party that would strip some parliamentarians of their immunity from prosecution is likely to create more violence and stifle democratic politics, the co-chair of the Kurdish-issue-focused opposition party has said.
