Former Istanbul governor fined for defaming 17-year-old victim as 'marginal'

Istanbul?s former governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu was fined 10,000 Turkish Liras for accusing a then-17-year-old Dilan Alp of being a member of ?marginal groups? during the May Day protests of 2013, during which she was hit in the head by a tear gas canister shot by the police.

A Dutch traveler has said that she escaped an attempted sexual assault in western Turkey, breaking her arm.

Jiska Nina Van Gerner, 28, who started a long distance walk in the Netherlands last year and recently arrived in Turkey from Romania, got lost on the highway between Bursa and Ankara, Anadolu Agency reported on May 16.

The 28-year-old Jiska Nina Van Gerner, who started a long distance walk in the Netherlands last year and recently arrived in Turkey from Romania, got lost on the highway between Bursa and Ankara, Anadolu Agency reported May 16.
