BELGRADE - Maria Lina Veca, an Italian journalist and researcher who was among the first in the world to uncover the story of organ trafficking in Kosovo-Metohija, says Europe has never had a genuine interest in prosecuting those responsible for these crimes, and notes that the last hope of this ever happening is dashed following Dick Marty's death.

BERN - Dick Marty, the former Council of Europe rapporteur who investigated crimes committed by the so-called "Kosovo Liberation Army" ("KLA") and human organ trafficking in Kosovo-Metohija, died on Thursday aged 78, Swiss.info reported.

The news of his death was confirmed by Switzerland's Radical-Liberal Party.

As Elvira Kova, a member of the delegation of the Serbian Assembly to the Council of Europe and vice-president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CoE, said, at yesterday's session of the PSSE Bureau, it was decided to create only information about Albania's initiative.

This is the Resolution on the unfoundedness of claims about the illegal trade in human organs in Kosovo and Albania, adopted in the Albanian parliament on July 21, 2022, with a request to submit it to the competent authorities, Kosovo Online learns.

During a joint meeting on Monday in Pristina between the governments of Kosovo and Albania, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that he will personally submit a report to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg being prepared in Albania's parliament querying the Dick Marty report and what he alleged was its Russian influence.

Dick Marty, the author of an infamous report in 2010 entitled 'Inhuman Treatment of People and Illicit Trafficking in Human Organs in Kosovo', has been back in the headlines this month.

After his invitation for interview as a suspect, Haradinaj, a former KLA commander, resigned as premier in July.

He has already been tried twice by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague and was acquitted both times, and he insisted that the Specialist Chambers would not undermine the KLA's legacy.

Those who are ultimately indicted are expected to be tried by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, which were established in 2015 in The Hague, and grew out of allegations made in an explosive report by Council of Europe rapporteur Dick Marty back in 2010.
