Flood Victims Rescued by Bulgarian Air Force Helicopters

A man has been rescued in Bulgaria's Black Sea Albena resort during a low-level flight of two Cougar helicopters of the Bulgarian Air Force, Friday.

Destitute people from the resort have been evacuated safely by army trucks ZIL – 131 and the military continue to assist victims in the area, BGNES reports.

Power Supply in Flood-Hit Northeastern Bulgaria Returning to Normal

Power supply to flood-hit northeastern Bulgaria is returning to normal, according to Radoslav Tsvetkov from power distributor Energo-Pro.

In a Friday interview for the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), Tsvetkov made clear that some 7400 customers in Varna, Dobrich and Gorna Oryahovitsa still had no electricity.

Central and Southeastern Bulgaria are expected to see river levels rising over the next 24 hours, hydrologists have warned.

Though rivers flowing into the Danube or the Black Sea are mostly expected to go up, the whole Bulgarian territory will be affected, private channel bTV reports citing forecasts.

Two Reported Victims of the Floods in Dobrich

At least two are the victims of the floods in the town of Dobrich, north eastern Bulgaria, reports Nova TV national channel. 

One of the victims is a woman, found near a high school in the town, while the other is a man, who reportedly drowned in his home. 

Dobrich Mayor Detelina Nikolova declared a state of emergency and asked for aid from the state authorities. 

Bomb Scare Shuts Down Hotel in Bulgaria's Black Sea Resort

A bomb threat at a hotel in Bulgaria's Black Sea Resort of Albena has caused the evacuation of all the tourists and the staff, Wednesday night.

The police station in the resort received a signal on May 28, according to local media reports. No explosives were found in the hotel, still it was shut down for 24 hours and is guarded by the authorities.

For the second consecutive year, Bulgaria's Black Sea resort Albena has opened the season of reading with the first EU beach library.

The library is located on the beach and on its shelves are arranged over 6000 volumes in more than 15 languages. It is completely free and offers world classics, thrillers, mysteries, romantic readings, memoirs.
