Turkey's Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba has fueled rumors that local elections scheduled to take place in March 2019 could be moved forward to November this year, stating "it would be the right thing to do," while opposition parties have responded cautiously.

Turkey will spend some 841 million Turkish Liras ($210 million) on a total of 2,723 rural development projects, Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba stated on March 28.

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has said the government does not plan to buy sugar factories currently slated for privatization, apparently refuting earlier comments from Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba.

The Agriculture and Livestock Ministry may bid to buy some of the sugar plants currently slated for privatization, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba said on March 12. 

Livestock will also be eligible to benefit from the Turkish government’s “family practice” system, Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba stated on Dec. 19.
