Croatian Labour Law Curbs Employees’ Rights

Croatia’s hotly disputed new Labour Law came into force on Thursday, angering unions who have complained of a lack of communication and consensus over the way it was passed.

Under the new law, employment contracts for a definite period, which were previously possible only for three years, now can be prolonged indefinitely.

Tourism without professionals

A total of 315 employment contract violations against Bulgarian citizens working abroad have been reported in the first six months of 2014.

The General Labor Inspectorate Executive Agency has received 129 complaints from Bulgarian employees since the beginning of the year, Bulgarian Telegraph Agency informs.

Parliament adopts amendments to labor legislation

BELGRADE -- Deputies in the Serbian assembly on Friday adopted two bills amending and modifying the Labor Law and the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO).

A total of 190 MPs voted in favor of the amendments to the Labor Law, 21 were against, and four did not vote.
