Cineplexx cinema opens in Belgrade

BELGRADE - A modern Cineplexx cinema opened in Belgrade late Tuesday in a ceremony attended by many figures from the world of film and culture.

The new 2,137-seat cinema at the Usce shopping mall has 11 digitised venues featuring state-of-the-art RealD 3D technology and a high quality of sound and picture.

Dacic on regional police cooperation in Opatija

OPATIJA - Ministerial conference on contemporary challenges in regional police cooperation, attended by Serbia's outgoing Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, started on Tuesday in Opatija, Croatia.

On the fringes of the conference, Dacic also conferred with Simonetta Sommaruga, Swiss Federal Minister of Police and Justice.

IMF: Deflation and High Unemployment in Bulgaria in 2014

Consumer prices in Bulgaria will drop by 0.4% in 2014, which means there will be deflation, said the IMF in its spring World economic outlook. 

The Fund has increased its forecast for Bulgaria's GDP by 0.1%, to 1.6%. The expectations for the unemployment, however, remain pessimistic. It is expected that by the end of the year it will be 12.5%. 

Abdurrahman Oner Wins Belgrade 'Short Meter' Festival

Festival of Short and Documentary movies “Short Meter” ended on April 6 with awards to the best movies in international and the domestic competition programme.

The jury said that best movie was Turkish short movie Buhar (2012) that already won numerous festival awards from Turkey, Kazahastan, to Germany Italy and US in last year.

61st short film festival concludes by award delivery

BELGRADE - The 61st Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival ended in Belgrade late on Sunday by the repeated screening of best films and the award delivery ceremony, as the Grand Prix went to film 'Buhar' (Vanished Into Blue) by Turkish director Abdurrahman Oner.

The competition programme gathered 53 foreign and 31 local films.
