Old mine destroyed in controlled explosion

A World War II anti-tank mine found in the sea in southern Athens was destroyed in a controlled explosion on Thursday morning. 

The mine was found on Wednesday night by a swimmer in the area of Kavouri, at a depth of 1.5 meters.

The detonation was carried out by the Hellenic Navy's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team after securing the area between Kavouri Avenue and Leto street.

False alarm over suitcase investigated by police bomb squad at Greek ministry

A false alarm was raised on Wednesday by the police due to the discovery of a suitcase deemed suspicious outside the Digital Governance Ministry in Kallithea in south Athens.

A bomb disposal team arrived at the scene, and after the relevant inspection, it was determined that the suitcase did not contain anything alarming to the authorities.

Bomb threats target US, Israeli, and Egyptian embassies in Athens

Bomb threats were reported at the embassies of the United States, Israel, and Egypt in Athens on Friday. 

According to reports, television stations were contacted and informed that bombs would detonate at the three embassies by 11.30 a.m. 

Another call warned that a bomb would go off at the parliament building. 

Unknown group claims responsibility for failed bomb attack at Thessaloniki courthouse

A previously unknown anarchist guerrilla group group identifying themselves as "Armed Response" has claimed responsibility for the failed bomb attack against a judge at the Thessaloniki courthouse in northern Greece last week, the third such incident since December.
