Thessaloniki student arrested over explosive device prank

A 17-year-old student from Thessaloniki, northern Greece, was temporarily arrested last Tuesday for falsely reporting to the police that an explosive device had been placed in his high school.

The school, located in the district of Kalamaria, was evacuated and a bomb disposal unit arrived  to inspect the building.

15,000 People Were Evacuated in Hanover Because of a World War II Aerial Bomb

Nearly 15,000 people were evacuated Monday night in the German city of Hanover due to a World War II aerial bomb disposal operation, BTA reported.

The 500-pound projectile was discovered on a construction site.

According to estimates, at the end of World War II, over 2 million bombs of different caliber were thrown over Hitler's Germany. 10-20% of them never exploded.

Parliament shut down after bomb threat called in

Police on Friday morning shut down Parliament and cordoned off the area around it after a bomb threat was made by an anonymous caller.

The caller phoned the offices of the Zougla.gr news website, saying that explosive devices had been placed "inside and outside Parliament."

"There will be victims. Beware," the caller reportedly threatened.

Device in foiled attack against Dogiakos was made up of gunpowder

The ongoing police investigation into a failed bomb attack against a deputy prosecutor in Athens on Tuesday showed that the low-power explosive device was made up of a kilo of gunpowder.

As to the reason why the bomb didn't go off, police believe this may be due to a jamming of the detonation circuit, probably during its transportation on the motorcycle.

More than 20,000 People Evacuated from an Italian City Because of a World War II Projectile

More than 20,000 people were evacuated in the Italian town of Fano on the Adriatic coast after an unexploded World War II missile was discovered during a construction project, Radio Television News reported.
 
Authorities evacuated people from all residential homes and public buildings, as well as from the local hospital.
