Lukaš to rejuvenate Slovenian lynx family
Slovenian forests have welcomed another male lynx from Slovakia. Lukaš was released into the forests in the north-western Gorenjska region on 19 April to join three female and one male lynx in the region.

Ninth lynx from Romania arrives in Slovenia
Ilirska Bistrica – An adult male lynx arrived from the Carpathian Mountains in Romania to the Snežnik plateau on Friday and is adjusting to the new environment in an enclosure. It is the ninth lynx to have arrived from Romania, said partners to the LIFE Lynx project, striving to preserve the Dinaric-Alpine lynx population.

Slovenian lynx population thriving
Ljubljana – The Slovenian lynx population appears to have come back from the brink of extinction and is now thriving thanks to animals that had been relocated from Romania and Slovakia to expand the heavily inbred population’s gene pool.

Lynx released into the wild in Gorenjska welcome first kittens
Ljubljana – Efforts to rejuvenate the lynx population in the north-western Gorenjska region have proved successful as the first kittens have been born after five lynx were released into the wild there under the Life Lynx project. This comes after a successful rejuvenation of the lynx population in the south of the country.
Caracal photographed in Muğla
A caracal, which is in danger of extinction, has been photographed by motion-triggered camera, placed by in the field by Yasin İlemin, an academic in the western province of Muğla.
İlemin, who named the wild cat "Timur," shared its photo on his social media account, drawing great interest.

A Caucasian lynx, which is an endangered species, was spotted in the Scots pine forests in the eastern province of Kars' Sarıkamış district on Dec. 7.

DIICOT requests FBI aid for DNA examination in Luiza Melencu case (Caracal file)
The Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has requested the aid of the Federal Investigation Bureau (FBI, US) to conduct a genetic examination that would determine the genetic profile (DNA) in the Luiza Melencu case, but also to establish the psychological/behavioural profile of Gheorghe Dinca, the suspect in the Caracal crimes' case.
Felines to have their own village in Turkey’s northwest
The northwestern province of Çanakkale is set to become home to a special cat village where hundreds of felines will live, be taken care of, and available for adoption.
Prosecutor acts on stray abuse
In the wake of a spate of brutal attacks on animals, in particular stray dogs, Supreme Court prosecutor Efterpi Koutzamani on Monday sent a circular to prosecutors across the country, asking them to act swiftly to stop abuse when it is reported and to bring offenders to justice.
