FIVB Volleyball World League

The Black Sea city of Varna is to host some of the FIVB Volleyball World League matches next year, a volleyball official says.

The Palace of Varna has been preferred over Arena Armeec sports hall in Sofia for its more affordable rent, news website Dnevnik.bg quotes the secretary general of Bulgaria's volleyball federation, Vladimir Nikolov, as saying.

The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, which presents the FIVB Antalya Open, kicked off in the Mediterranean province on May 10.  

The men's volleyball teams of Bulgaria and France are to face each other in the semifinals of the Volleyball European Championship 2015.

The Bulgarian Men's Volleyball Team is already ranking 8th in the FIVB Senior World Rankings, going a spot up from its previous place.

Bulgaria has a total of 150 points as of August, 24 of them added in the FIVB World League 2015, where Bulgaria missed in July the chance to play in the final round.  

The president of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) Dancho Lazarov announced on Tuesday that the country's men national team will compete in Group 1 of the World League in 2016.

Bulgaria's participation in the top group became possible after the country was granted a wild card from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The Bulgarian men's national volleyball team suffered on Saturday a heavy defeat in the final of Group 2 of the FIVB World League.

Bulgaria lost 0-3 to France (16-25, 20-25, 21-25) in a match, which was played in the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna.

The Bulgarian men's volleyball national team has made it into the Group 2 Final of the FIVB Volleyball World League 2015 after beating Belgium 3:1(23:25, 25:14, 25:18, 25:20).

The match was played at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, according to reports of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.

Bulgaria will play France or Argentina in Saturday's final.

The Bulgarian men's volleyball team was defeated on Sunday by Argentina in their second encounter in the FIVB Volleyball WOrld League match in Varna, Bulgaria.

Bulgarians lost 1:3 (19:25, 26:24, 17:25, 18:25) after an easy victory against Argentina in the previous match on Saturday.

The Bulgarian men's volleyball team on Sunday defeated Cuba for a second time in 24 hours in a FIVB World League match in Varna, Bulgaria.

Unlike in the Saturday match, which ended with a sweeping 3:0 victory, Bulgaria lost a game the next day, but triumphed 25:19, 25:19, 19:25, 25:17.

Argentina scored a smooth victory over Bulgaria in their second Pool C match of the FIVB Volleyball World League 2015 late on Sunday.

Bulgaria lost 0:3 (19:25, 19:25, 16:25) during the match at the Polideportivo Delmi arena in Salta, Argentina.

A day earlier, the Bulgarian team won a first match with Argentina 3:2.
