Katrougalos signs ratification law for Prespes deal

Alternate Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos signed the ratification law for the Prespes agreement which was approved by the Greek Parliament earlier on Friday.

"Greece leads in peace and stability in the Balkans and Europe. A new era for our relations with our neighbors," the minister said in a tweet.

EU's Katainen to attend parliamentary committee meeting on Jan. 29

European Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen will visit Athens on January 29 to participate in a joint meeting of the Greek Parliament's committees on european affairs, production and trade and economics.

Katainen, who is Commissioner for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, will speak at a session titled "The future of Europe: Challenges and opportunities."

Nikola Dimitrov, foreign minister of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, told a press conference in the capital Skopje Sunday that he has been "assured" by Greek Alternate Foreign Minister George Katrougalos that Athens remains "strongly committed" to completing its part of the name deal, the resignation of junior coalition partner Panos Kammenos notwithstanding.

ND official: Turkey cannot question international law in Aegean

New Democracy's shadow foreign minister Giorgos Koumoutsakos on Friday said Greece will not accept any challenge to international law by Turkey, following a meeting of the  National Council for Foreign Affairs (ESEP).

"We will not tolerate any challenge to international law and the existing situation in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean," he said.

Greece, US launch Strategic Dialogue in Washington

The US-Greece Strategic Dialogue began in Washington Thursday, focusing on regional defense, security and energy.

Early images released by the Greek Foreign Ministry Thursday showed Alternate Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos, who leads the Greek delegation, in talks with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell and other officials.
