Greek wiretapping scandal

More than 15 months after the Data Protection Authority started an investigation on the bugged cellphones of public officials and other individuals, it is still not yet clear who sent some of the spyware-infected messages.

SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis met with PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis on Monday. The first one-on-one meeting of the two opposition party leaders was held at Kasselakis' initiative, at Androulakis' office in Parliament.

An online news website published on Thursday some of the malicious text messages sent to 92 people in order to infect their cellphones with the Predator spyware.

PASOK chief Nikos Androulakis told lawmakers on Wednesday that he has learned of an additional attempt to tap his phone with illegal spyware apart from the two that were made public last year.

With the new cabinet of Kyriakos Mitsotakis expected to be announced on Monday afternoon, sources have said that the frontrunners for the post of Foreign and Finance Ministries are Giorgos Gerapetritis and Kostis Hatzidakis, respectively.
