Greek economy shrinks 1.2 percent q/q in fourth quarter, more than estimated
Greece's economy contracted from October to December after two straight quarters of growth, statistics service (ELSTAT) said on Monday, with its performance in the last quarter of 2016 turning out worse than projected in February.

The number of visitors to Greece's museums rose 8.7 percent in October and receipts grew by 21.2 percent, data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) showed on Tuesday, while free-admission visitors skyrocketed by 109.1 percent.

Greece's economy shrank by 0.4 percent in October-to-December compared to the third quarter when gross domestic product grew by an upwardly revised 0.9 percent, the country's statistics service (ELSTAT) said on Tuesday.
Car sales up in January, according to ELSTAT
According to primary data released by the Greek Statistical Services (ELSTAT), sales of new cars were up 13.3% in January 2017 compared to January 2016. Sales for new trucks were up by 23.1% over the same months, while bus sales were down by 25%. New motorbikes over 50cc were down by 41.8%.

Significant increase in new cars on the roads
Car registrations posted a remarkable 22.8 percent annual increase in January as 13,096 cars (new or used in other countries) hit the Greek roads for the first time last month, compared to 10,665 in January 2016, according to data released on Wednesday by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

Trade deficit expands along with imports
