Shocking ELSTAT data shows 7 in 10 are long-term unemployed
According to data released by the Hellenic Statistical Services (ELSTAT), 820,000 jobless Greeks are long term unemployed. They make up the 73.8% of the total of unemployed people in Greece, according to the figures reported in newspaper “Ta Nea”, while the report says that 9 out of 10 jobless people are completely in the margins as they are not receiving any kind of financial benefit.
Greek Q3 unemployment falls to 22.6 pct from 23.1 pct in Q2
Greece's jobless rate dipped marginally to 22.6 percent in the third quarter from 23.1 percent in the second quarter of the year, Greek statistics service data showed on Thursday.
About 73.8 percent of Greece's 1.11 million jobless are long-term unemployed, meaning they have been out of work for at least 12 months, the ELSTAT figures showed.
Former ELSTAT chief cleared of breach of duty
The former head of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), Andreas Georgiou, has been cleared of any wrongdoing for staying in his role at the International Monetary Fund during his first months as the Greek statistics chief.

Residential construction keeps shrinking
Residential construction in Greece continued to slow in the first half of this year, as only 4,055 new houses were completed in the year to end-June against 4,719 in the same period last year, Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) figures showed on Wednesday. This constitutes an annual decline of 14 percent.

Disposable income falls 5.5 bln euros in 2015
Households saw their disposable income shrink by 5.5 billion euros last year, compared to 2014, according to data issued by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), illustrating that Greek families suffered a major drop in income while the SYRIZA-Independent Greeks government was negotiating changes to the bailout program with the creditors.

Economic recovery for Greece?
Data released by the Elstat statistics bureau on Monday indicates that the Greek economy has expanded for the second consecutive quarter, beating forecasts and emerging from a protracted recession for the first time in two years.

Vehicle registrations rise 20 pct y-o-y in October
The number of new and used vehicles put into circulation for the first time rose last month to 9,479, showing a 20-percent rise from October 2015's figure of 7,897, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) reported on Tuesday.
ELSTAT said that the increase comes after a dip of 13.8 percent between October 2015 and October 2014.

Greeks gripped by depression
More than half a million Greeks are estimated to have been diagnosed with depression, according to experts at the 2nd Mental Health Conference, which began on Thursday at the Zappeion Hall in Athens.
