Bulgaria to Host NATO Crisis Response Exercises in 2024
Bulgaria and the Euro-Atlantic Emergency Response Coordination Center have signed a declaration of intent to hold crisis response exercises in the country next year. The exercises, expected to include teams from many NATO member countries, were announced by Alexander Zhartov, the general director of the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate.

Members of the public will now be able to assess natural disaster risks thanks to a new smartphone app that facilitates communication with authorities.

Very high fire risk on Saturday in Crete and the North & South Aegean regions
Very high fire risk (risk category 4) is predicted tomorrow in the region of Crete and in areas of the North and South Aegean regions, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection.
Specifically, a very high risk of fire tomorrow is predicted for the following areas:

Fire Department: Stage 2 Operational Readiness implemented due to fire risk
The fire risk is very high for six districts of Greece tomorrow according to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate & Civil Protection.
In particular, a very high fire risk (risk category 4) is predicted for the following areas:
Region of Attica (including the island of Kythera)
Flood support heading to Thessaly flood victims
New payments for emergency assistance have been issued to the victims of the floods that occurred in various areas of Thessaly and central Greece at the beginning of September 2023.
According to an announcement from the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, 2,591,737 euros was credited to citizens' bank accounts last Thursday.

An exercise called Hephaestus 2023 for evacuation of a building due to earthquake or fire for people with disabilities was held on Thursday at the building of the National Confederation of People with Disabilities (ESAMEA) in Ilioupoli, southern Athens.
