Serbia Prevents Attempt to Smuggle Migrants to Hungary, Budapest Reinforcing Border Fence

Serbian police have thwarted a people trafficker's attempt to smuggle 44 migrants across the border to Hungary, AP reported on Monday.

The group, consisting of migrants from Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and Iran, was discovered in the Serbian border town of Subotica where they had arrived by a local bus.

Bulgarian Man Detained over Arms Trafficking in Hungary

The Bulgarian driver of a truck transporting arms was detained in Hungary, local media say.

The man was arrested after a customs inspection of the vehicle in the district of Bacs-Kuskun.

Customs officers say a "significant" amount of arms were found inside the German-plated truck.

Pretrial proceedings were launched into the development.  

Survey Puts Bulgaria among Europe's 3 Most Welcoming Tourist Destinations

A survey has ranked Bulgaria among Europe's three friendliest tourist destination.

According to tourism portal Hotel.Info, Bulgaria comes right after Slovakia and Serbia, which have topped the list as of March 2016, compared to the same month of the previous year.

A contract to reconstruct the Belgrade-Budapest railroad will be signed next week, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has announced.

According to the website Vojvodina Today, representatives of Hungary and China this week in Beijing initialed an intergovernmental agreement that is paving the way for the reconstruction works.

Viktor Orban says "the tide of migrants from the Middle East and Africa may be part of a left-wing plot to pack Europe with sympathetic voters."

"I am not brave enough to speak about this in public with certainty, but you cannot get around imagining that some kind of master plan is behind this," the Hungarian prime minister told the Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche, Reuters reported.
