Hungary's Parliament Blocks Amendment on Ban of Settlement of Asylum Seekers
Hungary's Parliament has rejected the constitutional amendment proposed by PM Viktor Orban for a ban on the settlement of asylum seekers in Hungary, reported Reuters.
After the failure of the referendum on migrant quotas, this is a new blow against the Prime Minister which can make it difficult for him to continue with his fight against the migrant policy of the EU.

Hungary's PM Viktor Orban has called for the salvation of Europe via national states and Christian values, reported BGNES.
Hungary wants to put an end to the "sovietisation of Europe" and to protect its borders from mass migration, added Orban during the celebrations commemorating the anniversary of the anti-communist revolt in the country in 1956.

BUDAPEST - Hungary on Monday expressed strong support for Serbia's European integration and the opening of chapters 5, 20, 25 and 26 in its EU accession talks, and Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic and Hungarian FM Peter Szijjarto agreed a November 20-21 joint session of the two countries' governments in Nis, southern Serbia.

BELGRADE/BUDAPEST - Wrapping up an official visit to Budapest, Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic met on Monday with Hungarian PM Viktor Orban to discuss bilateral relations and regional stability.
Orban noted Hungary fully supported Serbia's European integration, the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Hungary's Migrant Quotas Referendum Invalid amid Low Turnout
The national poll held in Hungary on whether to ban mandatory relocation of migrants from Southern Europe is expected to be invalid as turnout is lower than the 50% threshold, media reports say.
Most of those who have participated in the referendum, however, have rejected mandatory quotas.

Central Europeans form "alliance for defense" - Orban
Leaders of Central European countries have formed "an alliance for the defense of their states and their way of life," says Hungarian PM Viktor Orban.
He made the statement on Sunday, in the wake of Saturday's "summit" on the refugee crisis, held in Vienna.

Inmates in Hungary's jails are working around the clock to increase production of razor wire, Beta has reported, quoting AP.
This comes as Hungary "prepares to build a second fence on the border with Serbia to keep out refugees and other migrants."
NGOs call for boycott of Hungarian vote on migrants
Human rights campaigners on Sept. 14 urged voters in Hungary to boycott what they termed an "inhumane" referendum on migrant relocation under an EU quota plan.
The appeal was made by 22 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including the Helsinki Committees for Human Rights group.
