Bulgaria Warns Citizens Against Travel Through Hungary

Bulgaria has warned its citizens to avoid travel by train or road through the territory of Hungary due to concentration of refugees at the country's borders with Austria and Serbia.

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry recommended to use alternative routes through Romania and Slovakia or via Serbia and Slovenia.

Hungarian Defence Minister Resigns

Hungarian Defence Minister Csaba Hende submitted his resignation on Monday as refugees continue to flock to the country.

According to a statement of the Hungarian government, Prime Minister Viktor Orban accepted the resignation and asked fellow Fidesz party member Istvan Simicsko to succeed Hende as defence minister, Daily News Hungary informs.

Passportless Migrants Protest in Budapest at Hungary's Travel Ban

Hundreds of migrants protested in Budapest on Wednesday at Hungary's decision to prevent them from travelling to Germany and other EU member states, the BBC reported.

The protests, now in their second day, have begun after Hungarian authorities banned travel for migrants without valid documents in order to comply with EU rules.

Hungary considers sending army to border with Serbia

Hungary is considering using the army to secure its southern border "where record numbers of migrants are streaming into the EU," Reuters reported.

“Hungary's government and national security cabinet has discussed the question of how the army could be used to help protect Hungary's border and the EU's border,” government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs said.
