Istanbul Airport has been named "Airport of the Year" for the fourth time at the Air Transport Awards 2024.

In its five years of operation, the airport received the prize four times, demonstrating a remarkable achievement, the Air Transport News said.

The winners are determined by a vote involving more than 4,000 Air Transport News readers and aviation industry executives.

Istanbul Airport has started the "Therapy Dog Project," the first of its kind in Türkiye, aiming to provide a peaceful and enjoyable travel experience with the support of furry companions for passengers experiencing flight-related stress.

Turkish airports served 14.7 million passengers in the first month of 2024, pointing to an 8.1 percent increase compared to January 2023, according to data from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).
