Turkey's airports serve 17.7 mln passengers in Q1
The number of air passengers in Turkey - including transit passengers - totaled 17.68 million in the first quarter of 2021, the country's airport authority announced on April 7.
The figure was around 33.6 million in the same period last year.

Turkish Airlines ranks 1st in European daily flights
Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines ranked first in Europe with an average of 581 daily flights from Feb. 1 to March 6, the European Organization for Air Navigation Safety (Eurocontrol) said on March 7.
Turkish airports see 5.2 mln passengers in February
The number of air passengers in Turkey - including transit passengers - totaled 5.2 million this February, the country's airport authority said on March 6.
According to the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI), the number of domestic passengers reached 3.7 million, while 1.6 million passengers took international flights.
Turkish Airlines leads European carriers in daily flights
Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines ranked first in Europe in terms of the daily number of flights between Feb. 8 and Feb. 15, according to data from the European Organization for Air Navigation Safety (Eurocontrol).
Turkish Airlines operated on average 592 flights a day in the said period, while Turkey's low-cost carrier Pegasus came in third in the list at 263 flights.

The number of air passengers in Turkey - including transit passengers - totaled 5.2 million this January, the country's airport authority revealed Feb. 8.
The figure dropped 63% from the same month last year, the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) said.

The number of passengers through Turkish airports- including transit passengers- reached 81.7 million in 2020, according to the country's airport authority on Jan. 7.
Helicopter’s tail hits lighting pole in Istanbul
A gendarme helicopter's tail hit a lighting pole when it was trying to get into a parking position at an Istanbul airport on Dec. 31.
The accident took place at the Sabiha Gökçen Airport and police, fire brigades, and health professionals were dispatched to the scene following the accident.
There was no disruption in airport traffic due to the accident.

5-star rating puts Istanbul Airport in top world league
Istanbul Airport gained top global recognition on Dec. 15 by being named a 5-star airport by London-based air transport rating agency Skytrax, the mega-airport said in a statement.
Istanbul Airport tops European traffic charts again
The Istanbul Airport saw the highest number of flights in Europe from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, according to the European Organization for Air Navigation Safety (EUROCONTROL) on Dec. 6.
The airport saw 471 flights on Nov. 28, 542 flights on Nov. 29, and 496 flights on Nov. 30, according to EUROCONTROL.
Istanbul Airport 1st to get global health accreditation
Istanbul Airport on Aug. 11 became the first worldwide to receive a new health accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI).
