Istanbul International Jazz Festival

As the world marks International Jazz Day today, the director of a prominent Turkish music festival explains the link between the Turkish metropolis Istanbul and jazz music.

As part of the April 30 International Jazz Day celebrations, the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) offers the documentary "Jazz in Turkey" online for two months on its YouTube channel.

Directed by Batu Akyol, "Jazz in Turkey" was premiered in 2013, with the 20th Istanbul Jazz Festival. 

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) for the 27th time this year, the "Istanbul Jazz Festival" will meet music enthusiasts between June 27 and July 14.
The festival, which will host over 300 local and foreign artists, will be held in 27 different venues of Istanbul.

Istanbul hosted a dazzling array of world-famous musicians as well as prestigious cultural events and festivals in 2019.

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), the 47th Istanbul Music Festival included 22 concerts with nearly 600 local and international musicians in the metropolis on June 11-30.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have been announced as the top names at the 25th Istanbul Jazz Festival due to take place between June 26 and July 17 this year.

The Istanbul Jazz Festival will bring American bass genius Marcus Miller to his fans in Istanbul once again, while preparing for its 25th year. 

A regular guest at the Istanbul Jazz Festival, bass genius Miller, who is well-known for his impressive technique and brilliant albums, will take the stage on Oct. 21 at Zorlu PSM as part of a tour with talented young musicians. 

The 24th Istanbul Jazz Festival will finish with a concert on July 21, featuring the Syrian Women's Chorus, composed of Syrian women who migrated to Istanbul.

In the concert, the chorus will accompany the Syrian saxophone player Basel Rajoub's band "Sorina" and Sirojiddin Juraev, a master performer of long-necked lutes from Central Asia.

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), the 24th Istanbul Jazz Festival kicked off on July 4 with an opening ceremony and concerts at the Consulate General of Austria and the Austrian Cultural Office Garden.

The festival will feature more than 200 names in 20 different venues across Istanbul between July 4 and 20.

The Istanbul Jazz Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), has issued a call for amateur or semi-professional young jazz bands that wish to participate in the 24th Jazz Festival program.
