Third coal seam in Kolubara opens after May floods
LAZAREVAC - Coal production resumed Thursday in Veliki Crljeni coal seam at the Kolubara mining basin, which was heavily affected by the May flooding, and Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic announced that the first quantities of coal will be sent to the Obrenovac thermal power plant Nikola Tesla (TENT) this weekend.

Flood damage to EPS yet to be precisely assessed
BELGRADE - The damage that the severe floods caused to the Serbian electric power system has yet to be precisely assessed, as this would be possible after coal mines are completely dried and mud removed, Acting Director General of the public enterprise Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) Aleksandar Obradovic said on Wednesday.

New German donation delivered to Obrenovac
OBRENOVAC -- Deputy German Ambassador Michael Hasenau delivered on Wednesday to Obrenovac a donation which the German government provided as emergency aid.
The diplomat said that Germany will continue supporting the flood-hit population, Tanjug reported.

OBRENOVAC -- More than a month since the Belgrade municipality of Obrenovac was flooded, the scale of the natural disaster is visible everywhere.
Residents are still cleaning up their homes, removing debris, while farms, kindergartens, playgrounds have been destroyed.

RGZ provides satellite images before and after floods
BELGRADE - The national geodetic institute (RGZ) has announced on Monday that it has obtained data from satellite systems for the flood-hit areas in Serbia, for May 18,19 and 21, which could provide the information about the scope of the flood, and help assess the consequences.

Coal shortage to cut power supply by 30 percent come winter
BELGRADE - The power station Nikola Tesla (TENT) in Obrenovac will produce about 30 percent less power than planned once winter starts as the result of the recent floods and a reduction in coal deliveries, station head Cedomir Ponocko has said.
Czech Republic has donated around EUR 250,000 to Serbia
BELGRADE - The Czech Republic, which donated the equipment worth EUR 60,000 to the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) on Tuesday, has so far given Serbia around EUR 250,000 in assistance after the severe floods, Czech Ambassador to Serbia Ivana Hlavsova has said.
EBRD Estimates Cost of Flood Damages in Serbia and B&H At EUR 3 B
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) estimated the damages from the devastating floods in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina at around EUR 3B.
Official estimates of the cost are not available yet, but in its report the EBRD put the damage at around EUR 1.5-2 B in Serbia and about EUR 1.3B in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
