Copernicus system activated to map burned areas in Achaia, Ilia
Copernicus, the EU's Earth observation program, has been activated for the immediate mapping of the areas in Achaia and Ilia, southern Greece, that have been burned in wildfires since Friday.
Fire near Athens under control, arson suspected
A fire that broke out in low vegetation along Vari-Koropi Avenue near the Hellenic Army Academy in eastern Attica is now under control with no active fronts, according to the fire department.
Strong firefighting forces remain to prevent flare-ups, with 155 firefighters, four ground teams, 45 vehicles, six aircraft and 12 helicopters deployed.

Fire in eastern Attica engulfs homes, triggers evacuations
Authorities have urged residents to evacuate an area on the fringes of Athens where a large wildfire was fanned by strong winds.
The fire service said 54 firefighters, assisted by six water-dropping aircraft, were trying to control a "difficult fire" near Vari, some 30 kilometers south of central Athens, in an area where there are scattered residential properties.
Four children injured at unlicensed party venue
Four children were injured in the Attica suburb of Koropi on Sunday during a party at a venue that was operating illegally.
According to Skai TV, the children, all aged 8, were injured while playing in an inflatable attraction similar to a bouncy castle. Three were taken to hospital, where doctors confirmed that their injuries were not serious.

Police dismantle burglary ring in eastern Athens suburbs
Police dismantled a criminal group operating in the eastern Attica districts of Lavrio, Keratea and Koropi, responsible for numerous burglaries.
The group, including two minors, was caught Monday afternoon in the Legrena settlement after fleeing a burglarized home.
Second teen arrested over student bullying
Police on Thursday arrested a 16-year-old boy who is accused of systematically bullying a 14-year-old fellow student in Koropi, East Attica.
The teen, along with a 15-year-old who was also arrested on Tuesday, is believed to have threatened, hit and verbally abused the victim in and outside of their school for the past three years.

Human skull found at air base sent for forensic examination
A human skull which was found in the grounds of an air base in Koropi, eastern Attica, will undergo a forensic examination.
The bones were collected by police officers and sent to the forensic service of the University of Athens, state broadcaster ERT reported.
Athens police make arrest over July 13 attack on masonic lodge
Police in Athens have arrested a 61-year-old man who may have links to the far-right, in connection with an attack with a small makeshift bomb in the city center on July 13.
According to state broadcaster ERT, the suspect was identified from CCTV footage by investigators looking into the attack on a masonic lodge on downtown Acharnon Street that caused some damage but no injuries.
