“I’m moved,” said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis regarding the opening of the Thessaloniki Metro, during an interview on Ant1, in which he announced his candidacy for the premiership in 2027. He emphasized his belief in single-party governments and also touched upon Greek-Turkish relations.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis marked the inauguration of the northern city of Thessaloniki's metro station Saturday, calling it a transformative project.

"I believe it will be embraced by the people of Thessaloniki," he said in an interview with Antenna TV, noting the challenges overcome to complete it. "We went through 40 waves," he added.

PM, President attend opening ceremony for Thessaloniki metro

President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis were attending on Saturday afternoon a ceremony for the official opening of the Thessaloniki Metro on Saturday afternoon.

The handover ceremony will take place at the Pylaia depot, home to the state-of-the-art control centre ensuring the Metro's safe operation.
